Easter 2025

Easter 2025 – what is this year’s spring celebration, or celebration of life, be about?

For me it is about spreading joy, building relationships and being at home, just where we are now. Keeping the thought alive that what we give is what we get, around this Easter, I have been engaging in more sessions of making people happy. I went out in the streets and decided what I liked from what I saw, I opened doors and offered candles as gifts of joy and friendship. Soon I will wrap additional gifts for the important teachers in my son’s life. And as a closing act, towards the long awaited Spring holiday, I will embark on a project for the Baptise of my friend’s child. Some pictures to follow. Am super happy about this.

How do you spread joy this spring? #easter #gifts #celebrations #baptise #happyeaster #egghunt

Christmas 2024

Christmas last year was about an attempt to revive the old stories, from old times, and hand them over to the next generation. Everything that is forced, makes people go against it. While towards everything that is flowing, we seem to be choosing to go along with.

This Christmas was about letting go of fixed structures, about acceptance, and embracing new ways. Some things don’t change, many do. I am bringing this mix also in the Candles that come to shape. This Christmas I have chosen to create new Shapes, and still place them in a vintage context, on small plates, from everywhere.

Times have changed. Acceptance of change, humbleness in front of the novelty and keeping the warm memories of the past inside our souls, helps move on, conquer new territorry and infuse our lives with dopamine kicks. What is novelty, but a kick in our system that we seem to long to feel? The vintage cups still exist, but the new shapes have been more popular among the people liking candles. So this trend is to be continued. Moving slowly towards Easter 2025. Are you curious, what will be the new kick?

Keep it simple and surprising

I love a thoughtful surprise. If you write a note in your order about yourself, what shapes, materials, colors, fragrances you like, the order will be personalized accordingly. The variety of the vintage products is so high, that it makes it hard to choose what is nicer and worthwhile acquiring. But a thoughtful surprise is always appreciated. I am known for finding really matching gifts for friends and colleagues, knowing bits about them. Give some specs about yourself when entering the order and I will make a thoughtful choice of product(S) to create a lovely surprise for you. And if “I can buy myself flowers” is a catchy motto today, you can alternate with “I can buy myself surprise candles” for a change and a thrill. Enjoy!

Houses of wax and of brick, which one to give as a #gift?

These days my son asks me to read to him often the story of the Three Little Pigs and the Wolf. He by now understands the durability of a house of straw, a house of wood and a house of brick. While I would love to be able to offer to my friends the most durable option, a house of brick, that is beyond reason. Luckily many of them are in the position to offer it to themselves. I can celebrate with them the glorious step of buying a new house or moving into a new house, by offering a type of house, that does not exist in the options from the Three Little Pigs, but exists as part of the other stories by Candl’. A house of rapeseed wax, made in Europe, with materials from Europe. So far all the houses are of a beautiful color of choice: I was asked for a blue, a green or a pink house to fit the taste of the receiver. To fit the colors of their homes. I have not yet made just a natural colored one, to celebrate today’s emphasis on non-color, natural beiges. This version is also to come, either per order or as a preparation for someone more who wants to enjoy or give joy with a #house gift / #huisje cadeau. Also, I am preparing more types of houses of wax as more ideas and projects of shapes and forms are coming along.

Artist collaborations

Povesti_din_Lut is a rewritten story of impressive Romanian architecture. Using official documentation of various famous monument buildings, Florin Dumitru models miniatures of these monuments out of clay and paints them in accordance with the reality details. His website and Facebook, next to various articles about fairs and social engagement make his work visible in it’s uniquness and beauty. We agreed with Povesti_din_Lut to also have two favourite buildings of mine, Der alte Rathausturm in Sibiu and the Village Museum house represented as natural candles. I am grateful that like this we can bring the story of Transylvanian beauties also into the world of #naturalcandles. Thank you, Florin, Povesti_din_Lut!

(the images are from the official Facebook page of Povesti_din_Lut. I encourage you to visit the profile and while strolling through Sibiu, observe these beautiful houses in the stores of our transylvanian cities. Note to the book fans, they are in many libraries available!)

Vintage Collection

The drive to create candles was mostly motivated by the desire to reuse, repurpose and give once again value to existing products, while also adding new value to them.

The Vintage Collection items are the first and most fundamental choice of Candl, and other stories. With an appeciation of the past and a constant outlook towards a happy future, the aim of continuing this timeless collection remains to bring relaxation, and prettiness in the homes of people, while offering to the candles pots another chance to be used, after the candle is burned. The holders can also be sent back or brought back for refill.
